Nerves of Mind

Sounds and nerves were being created by God for me,

to understand people around me.

Loud and soft sounds made me aware who's coming and going?

up-and-down over the alley stairs.

Smooth and rough wind scared my ears,

lightning,splashed over my eyes.

I could understand what is happening,

before my action reacted.

Down in the alley path

full of footsteps.

Small feet,and big feet came rushing thru the opened doors.

These are world of mind days and nights

keep holding my nerves.

Soseki (1867-1916)
Selain menulis haiku modern Jepun,beliau juga seorang novelist yang terkenal,telah menghasilkan meninggalkan untuk tatapan generasi kini sebuah novel terhebat di zamannya berjudul 'Kokoro'(1914).

hatchet felling bamboos

Nyanyian salju
gugusan buluh tumbang
di atas gunung.
